Why Richard Gere Decided to Leave the US and Relocate to Spain

Richard Gere, celebrated for roles in Pretty Woman and Chicago, is beginning a new chapter by relocating to Spain with his family. Born in 1949 in Philadelphia, Gere’s Hollywood career has spanned over five decades, earning him acclaim, including a Golden Globe. Despite his fame, he has always prioritized a quieter, meaningful life, focusing on humanitarian work and family.

Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, are moving to Madrid, embracing a more relaxed and family-centered lifestyle. Inspired by Alejandra’s Spanish roots, Gere expressed excitement about Spain’s vibrant culture, food, and people, calling it a “beautiful adventure.” The move also allows their children to connect with their Spanish heritage.

Recently, the couple sold their Connecticut estate, marking their commitment to this transition. Gere, who previously lived in New York to stay close to his eldest son, Homer, cherishes family above all. Married since 2018, Gere and Alejandra share a deep bond rooted in shared values, now looking forward to a peaceful life in Madrid.
