Walmart is closing a batch of stores in 2025

Walmart to Close 22 U.S. Stores in 2025, Including 4 in Chicago.

Walmart plans to shut down 22 underperforming stores across the U.S. this year, including four in Chicago and one Neighborhood Market in Richmond, Virginia, which will close on July 28. A company spokesperson thanked customers for their support.

The closures reflect a broader shift in retail, as companies downsize physical locations to focus on digital growth. While this may affect local communities through job losses and reduced convenience, Walmart says customers can still shop online or at nearby stores.

The company remains committed to expanding e-commerce and improving customer service. More updates on Walmart’s strategy are expected soon.
