Reasons You Could Have Numbness or Tingling Sensations in Your Hands

Numbness or tingling in the hands can result from various causes, ranging from minor issues to serious health conditions. Common reasons include sleeping in an awkward position, repetitive motions like typing, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Electrolyte imbalances, diabetes (leading to diabetic neuropathy), neck or spinal problems, and autoimmune disorders may also cause these sensations. Poor circulation, such as in Raynaud’s phenomenon, and nerve compression due to cysts or tumors are other potential factors. Infections like shingles or Lyme disease can affect nerve function. While occasional tingling is usually harmless, persistent symptoms require medical attention to rule out serious conditions.
