One person writes: “That’s fine, I actually respect what people wish to be referred to as whether it be gender or name, that’s not a problem – but I still am not a fan of his antics.”

In a letter, Milo Yiannopoulos, West’s chief of staff, has insisted that the rapper be called by his given name.

According to the letter that Page Six was able to receive, the rapper is “one of the most recognisable people in the world, on par with presidents and popes.”

It goes on to say that the “Stronger” rapper “didn’t take the decision to change his name lightly” and that he may be giving up some of the enormous value that his name embodies.

The topic of West’s name change has come up more than once.

West’s application to formally adopt his moniker According to TMZ, Ye was granted approval in a Los Angeles court in 2021. Additionally, he no longer has a middle name.

Since then, the media has used the rapper’s name interchangeably, but Yiannopoulos wants that to end.

Since they are some of “the most visible places,” Yiannopoulos continues, he is contacting “streaming platforms, publishers, stores, unions, lyrics websites, and data resellers” to impose the change.

The rapper previously spoke of the name change during a radio interview with BigBoyTV, explaining, “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.”

“My name changed from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye – simply reflecting our good, our bad, our confused, everything,” the rapper stated.

West hinted at his new identity on X, formerly Twitter, after the release of his 2018 self-titled album, “Ye,” stating that he was “the being formerly known as Kanye West.”

He concluded, “I am YE.”
