Utah — Authorities have released new details about the September 10 shooting that killed conservative commentator Charlie Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, acted alone and was politically motivated, officials confirmed. Investigators cited his radicalized online activity and family reports of increasingly extreme views, including calling Kirk “full of hate.”
Evidence suggests the attack was premeditated. A bolt-action rifle was recovered, along with bullet casings engraved with internet memes and slogans like “bella ciao.” Discord messages revealed planning, including hiding the weapon and changing clothes after the shooting.
Robinson remains in custody, charged with aggravated murder. Officials warn the case highlights the growing threat of political extremism fueled by online radicalization. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities say the motive was ideological, not personal.
