Melania Trump’s latest look sparks both applause and backlash

After keeping a low profile early in Donald Trump’s second term, First Lady Melania Trump made a rare public appearance at the 2025 Congressional Picnic on June 12. She drew attention with her stylish summer look—white blouse, floral Dolce & Gabbana pants, and pink Manolo Blahnik heels.

Trump praised her during his speech, thanking her for organizing the event and joking, “You might be taking my position.”

Known for valuing privacy, especially for her son Barron, Melania was seen smiling and engaging with guests. Her appearance sparked a wave of reactions online. While many praised her elegance, others drew unflattering comparisons to Caitlyn Jenner—remarks some defended her against as unfair and offensive.

Melania also received recognition for her work on the Take It Down Act, aimed at combating nonconsensual explicit content online.

Her evolving fashion—such as her understated black outfit at this year’s inauguration—reflects a more reserved image compared to her 2017 debut in powder blue.
