Your feet could reveal warning signs of serious health conditions, according to pharmacist Noel Wicks. Foot health, including toenails, can indicate issues like heart disease or peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Symptoms like cold, swollen, painful, or numb feet could suggest blocked blood vessels, and thickened, brittle toenails may also be linked to heart problems. PAD, where fatty deposits restrict blood flow, can cause leg pain that improves with rest. Other red flags include tingling, burning, dry or cracked skin, and slow-healing sores. Fungal infections or yellow, thick nails could point to diabetes or heart disease. If you notice any of these symptoms, along with chest pains or unusual fatigue, it’s important to seek medical advice. Regularly checking your feet could help catch early signs of serious conditions.
