Jimmy Kimmel has refused demands to apologize to the family of slain activist Charlie Kirk or to donate to his relatives and Turning Point USA.
These demands came from Sinclair Broadcast Group, a major ABC affiliate owner, after ABC indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! following backlash over Kimmel’s comments on Kirk’s death.
Kimmel told Disney executives he would not issue a contrition statement or make a donation. Sinclair declared the suspension “not enough,” vowing not to air the show unless he complies. Nexstar Media Group also dropped the program, citing “community values.” Together, these moves sharply reduced its reach. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr supported the affiliates, while others defended Kimmel as a free speech issue. ABC has not committed to affiliates’ conditions.
