Toilet Snake Bites: Rare but Real. Though uncommon, snake bites from toilets do occur worldwide. Snakes may enter bathrooms through sewer lines, vents, or damaged pipes—especially during rainy seasons in tropical regions.

Shocking cases highlight the risk: in Thailand, a 12-foot python bit a man’s testicles while hiding in his toilet; in South Africa, a Dutch tourist was attacked by a Cape cobra in an outdoor restroom. Similar incidents have occurred in Texas, where a rat snake bit a woman, and in Australia, where a carpet python struck a woman’s thigh.

While all victims survived, many required surgery or counseling. Experts warn that snakes can slither through plumbing into toilets, making vigilance essential—particularly in rural or high-risk areas.
