Children’s coughs are often persistent and bothersome, especially during the winter when colds and flu are more common.
These illnesses can weaken the immune system and expose the body to more viruses and bacteria. While coughs in children usually aren’t serious, they can still cause discomfort and sleepless nights.
Before trying anything at home, it’s best to consult a pediatrician and follow their advice. However, natural remedies can also help ease symptoms and provide relief.
Coughs occur when viruses irritate the respiratory tract, leading to inflammation and mucus. They can be caused by colds, bronchitis, asthma, allergies, or other infections. In children, coughing can last up to four weeks. Though annoying, it’s often the body’s way of clearing airways and removing germs.
One simple home remedy that helps soothe cough, sore throat, and bronchitis is a banana-based drink that’s safe for kids and adults.
Ingredients:
-
2 ripe bananas
-
400 ml boiling water
-
2 tablespoons of sugar or honey (add honey only after cooling)
Instructions:
Mash the bananas, mix in sugar, and pour boiling water over the mixture. Let steep for 30 minutes. Strain if desired. Drink 100 ml warm, four times daily.
This natural remedy can ease symptoms in just a few days.
