Sydney landscaper Shianne Fox has sparked a nationwide conversation about gender double standards in the workplace after challenging rules that prevent women from working shirtless while allowing men to do so.
Her story, which began with a candid video on social media, has ignited debate about fairness, professionalism, and equality in physically demanding jobs.
On one of the hottest days of the year, when temperatures soared to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, Fox found herself growing frustrated as her male coworkers worked comfortably without shirts while she was told to stay covered. Taking to TikTok, she vented her anger in a post that quickly went viral. “It’s a 40-degree day today, and I’m the one who has to wear my shirt while all the boys on-site don’t,” she said. “It’s sexist, and I’m really over it. I just want to be topless like the boys—but no, I’ll ‘distract them.’”
