Dr. Robin George Andrews highlighted the challenges of asteroid deflection, citing the potential dangers of using methods like the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART). The asteroid’s impact could affect regions across northern South America, southern Asia, and Africa, with countries like India, Pakistan, and Venezuela at risk. If it strikes, it could create an explosion equivalent to 8 million tons of TNT. NASA predicts a one-in-43 chance of the asteroid colliding with Earth in 2032, with further study underway using the James Webb Space Telescope.
