Doctor Raises Triplets after Mother Dies in Labor, in 5 Years Their Bio Dad Appears — Story of the Day

Dr. Thomas Spellman adopted his sister Leah’s triplets after she passed away during childbirth. Five years later, the children’s biological father, Joe, appeared, seeking custody.

“You’re the best older brother I could ask God for,” Leah whispered to Thomas before her surgery. Tragically, Leah did not survive, leaving Thomas devastated.

Joe, Leah’s ex-boyfriend, showed up at the hospital demanding to see his children. Thomas, angry at Joe’s past neglect, refused. Joe vowed to fight for custody. Thomas adopted the triplets and fought Joe in court. The judge awarded Thomas custody, recognizing Joe’s unfitness.

Years later, Joe returned, claiming he was now stable and wanted his children back. Thomas, despite health issues, fought for them. “Where were you all those five years when I was raising them?” he asked Joe.

The court awarded Joe custody due to Thomas’s health. Heartbroken, Thomas told the boys, “I want you to be happy.” The boys, preferring Thomas, clung to him. Joe, moved by their bond, agreed they should stay with Thomas, realizing what was best for the children.
