Just hours before his arrest, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson allegedly confessed in a Discord message to the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Kirk was shot while speaking to over 3,000 attendees and later died in the hospital.
Investigators say Discord messages—where Robinson reportedly admitted responsibility and others mentioned a manifesto and weapon—are key evidence. A tip from someone close to Robinson led to his arrest 33 hours later.
He had also posted a farewell-style message, suggesting he would surrender. Charged with aggravated murder, Robinson faces the death penalty. Though he has refused to cooperate, authorities are building the case using online chats and witness testimonies. Discord confirmed the posts but denied involvement in any planning.
