London Southend Airport remains closed after a deadly plane crash on Sunday afternoon. A 12-metre aircraft burst into flames just before 16:00 BST, killing at least one person. The crash, involving a Zeusch Aviation flight from Athens, had stopped in Pula and Southend before heading to Lelystad, Netherlands.
Eyewitness John Johnson described the plane veering sharply left and crashing in a fireball moments after takeoff, suggesting possible mechanical failure.
Airport CEO Jude Winstanley extended condolences and confirmed the closure pending a full investigation. The number of casualties remains unconfirmed.
