An unsettling X-ray shared on social media shows a body infested with tapeworms, causing shock among viewers. Sam Ghali from the University of Florida posted the image, describing it as one of the most intense X-rays he’s seen. The infection, cysticercosis, can result from consuming raw or undercooked pork contaminated with tapeworm larvae, specifically from the parasite Taenia solium. The larvae move from the intestines into other tissues, including muscles, eyes, or the brain, where cysts form. Though the X-ray suggests raw pork consumption, the CDC clarifies that cysticercosis is contracted by ingesting tapeworm eggs through contaminated food or water, not directly from eating infected pork. The post serves as a warning about the dangers of improper food preparation.
