Heir to $287,000,000 fortune sentenced to life in prison for murdering best friend on Christmas Eve

Dylan Thomas, heir to a pie company fortune, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his childhood friend, William Bush, on Christmas Eve, 2023. Thomas, 24, stabbed Bush 37 times using a flick knife and kitchen knife at their home in Cardiff, Wales. During the trial, it was revealed Thomas had searched online for neck anatomy before the crime. Despite admitting to manslaughter, he was found guilty of murder in November 2024 after just three hours of deliberation. The court sentenced him to life, with a minimum of 19 years. Bush’s sister, Catrin, described his death as “barbaric and cruel,” and shared the immense trauma her family now faces. Thomas, currently treated for schizophrenia, attended the sentencing via video link.
