At least 24 people, including father Anthony Mitchell and his son Justin, were killed in wildfires across the Los Angeles area. Anthony, 67, a retired salesman and amputee, and Justin, in his 20s with cerebral palsy, were trapped while evacuating their Altadena home. Anthony’s daughter, Hajime, believes he was trying to save Justin. Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire ravaged Altadena, claiming other victims like 83-year-old Rodney Nickerson, who chose to stay in his home despite evacuation warnings. The wildfires, fueled by strong winds, have destroyed thousands of acres and left countless families devastated. The fires remain only partially contained.
