I Returned Home after Giving Birth to Find My Baby’s Room Destroyed and Repainted Black

After bringing our newborn, Amelia, home, I was shocked to find her beautiful pink nursery destroyed. My mother-in-law, Janet, had repainted the walls black, broken the crib, and removed the toys. She refused to accept Amelia, accusing me of infidelity because of Amelia’s dark skin.

Though both my husband Tim and I are white, we later learned that Tim’s great-grandfather was Black, which explained Amelia’s appearance. However, Janet couldn’t accept this, claiming Amelia wasn’t her grandchild.

In response, I recorded Janet’s racist outburst and shared it online, exposing her actions. Family and friends stood by us, and Janet faced consequences, including losing her job. Despite the turmoil, our family grew stronger, and we rebuilt Amelia’s nursery, filled with love.
