I’m a flea market junkie, always hoping to find treasure among others’ discarded items. My husband, Sam, often mocked my hobby, calling it “hoarder junk.” However, that all changed one weekend.
I spotted a small enameled egg at a flea market and, after some haggling, bought it for $10. When I brought it home, Sam laughed at my “cheap find.” But as I shook it, we realized something was inside. Sam pried it open, revealing a pair of exquisite earrings wrapped in red silk. Though I thought they were fake, Sam insisted they were real.
We had the earrings appraised, and to our astonishment, they turned out to be authentic Art Deco pieces, valued at $3 million! Now, we have a nest egg in the bank, and Sam is an avid antique hunter, joining me on every flea market adventure.
What can we learn? “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
