A true hero: Mom straps baby in carseat and tosses her out second-story window just seconds before taking her final breaths

21-year-old Shelby Ann Carter from Wyoming, Illinois, made a heroic sacrifice during a devastating house fire. Trapped with her newborn daughter, Keana, Shelby secured the baby in a car seat and dropped her out of a second-story window before succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Firefighters found Keana unharmed, calling Shelby’s actions a “miracle.” The tragedy left the community grieving, but they raised $40,000 to support the family. Keana will forever carry the legacy of her mother’s selfless love.
