Sarah, 33, is eight months pregnant and feeling exhausted after recently moving to New York. One evening, her son Ethan complained of severe stomach pains, prompting Sarah to ask her husband, Mark, to help take Ethan to the hospital. Mark refused, saying, “I can’t miss Jessica’s party. She’ll be upset if I don’t show up.” Sarah, desperate and unable to drive, called friends for help but had no luck.
Sarah had to call an Uber to get Ethan to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with appendicitis and required emergency surgery. Mark did not answer his phone, and Sarah was left to manage everything alone. After Ethan’s successful surgery, Sarah decided she had to take a stand against Mark’s neglect.
She gathered evidence of her hospital ordeal and changed the locks at home. When Mark finally called, Sarah told him, “You’ll find out when you get here.” Mark pleaded for another chance, but Sarah remained firm, prioritizing the well-being of her children and herself.
