Jane looked forward to a relaxing lunch with colleagues while her husband was away on a work trip. But upon arriving at the restaurant, she got more than she expected.
“I just wanted my grilled calamari and garlic bread,” Jane recalled. But then she spotted her husband, Tom, who was supposed to be away. He was engrossed in his phone, smiling mysteriously. Confused, Jane’s mind raced, wondering who he could be texting.
A stranger soon handed Tom an envelope. Jane discreetly moved closer and saw photos of herself inside. She realized the man was a private investigator hired by Tom to catch her with a colleague and frame her for cheating.
“Turns out that the unknown man was a private investigator who was part of Tom’s elaborate plan,” Jane revealed. Their prenup stated that if one cheated, they’d get nothing in the divorce. Tom’s plan was to get everything while starting a new life with his mistress.
Tom filed for divorce, thinking he had outsmarted Jane. In court, he presented his case, but Jane countered with solid evidence, exposing his deceit. “Tom’s plan had backfired spectacularly,” Jane noted.
Now free from a toxic marriage, Jane felt stronger and wiser. Reflecting on the ordeal, she realized it all started with a simple lunch. “And you know? I didn’t even get my calamari and garlic bread.”
