Price is Right’ contestant stuns Drew Carey with ‘best Showcase bid in the history of the show’

After more than 50 years, The Price is Right continues to surprise, even host Drew Carey. In the June 7 episode, contestant Patrice Masse guessed the price of his showcase to within a dollar, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the studio.

Masse’s guess of $39,500 was just one dollar off the actual value of $39,501. Carey paused, clearly amazed by this remarkable achievement. “Off by a dollar … with absolutely no help from anybody in the audience,” he remarked as the credits rolled. “That was the best showcase bid in the history of the show in my opinion.”

However, while Masse made history, it’s worth noting that another contestant, Terry Kniess, previously guessed the exact showcase price in 2008. This feat, however, was surrounded by controversy as some believed he received outside help from a fan, Ted Slauson, who often assisted contestants during tapings. Kniess insists he guessed the price himself. This fascinating backstory is explored in the documentary Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much. Watch both moments to see the excitement unfold!
