Creative Ways to Use Tuna Cans for Food Storage in the Refrigerator

Before tossing empty tuna cans, consider reusing them—they’re sturdy, space-saving, and perfect for organizing your fridge. Start by washing each can with hot, soapy water, then soak in baking soda and vinegar to remove odors. Dry completely to avoid rust.

These cans are great for storing chopped vegetables, sauces, fruits, or leftovers. Cover with cling wrap or silicone lids to keep food fresh. For meal prep, portion ingredients like cheese, herbs, or nuts and arrange the cans neatly on a tray.

You can even freeze soup stock, juice, or baby food in them—just leave room for expansion. Always label each can with the date and contents.

Avoid acidic foods, and discard cans with rust or sharp edges. With a little care, tuna cans become eco-friendly, reusable tools for fridge organization.
