What I Found Under My Back Seat Looked Harmless — Until I Learned It Could Kill Me

A Shocking Discovery Under My Car Seat. While cleaning my car one Saturday, I found a strange, spiny object under the back seat. Curious, I looked it up — and was stunned. It was the shed skin of a Lonomia caterpillar, one of the world’s most dangerous. Its venom can cause internal bleeding, organ failure, and even death — just from contact.

I called pest control immediately. They confirmed it and checked for any live ones (thankfully, there were none).

What I Learned:

  • Don’t touch unknown objects with bare hands.

  • Call experts if something looks suspicious.

  • Even everyday places can hide serious dangers.

A close call — and a powerful reminder to stay cautious, even at home.
