Joy Behar, a longtime co-host of The View, will retire when her contract expires. The liberal Behar has appeared on the show for twenty-one seasons. An interview for journalist Ramin Setoodeh’s book “The Explosive Inside Story of the View.” revealed her departure plans.
Behar clarified that while she has a three-year contract, she might leave if she feels it’s the right time. She humorously noted that if she remains as “fabulous” as she is now, she might consider staying. However, she acknowledged that time advances and that she’s not a young person anymore.
Despite the interview, a representative from The View stated that the retirement rumor is not true. According to the representative, if Behar feels she’s still at her best, she will continue as a host on the show beyond 2023.
Behar, a token Democrat on the show, faced a brief departure in 2013 due to perceived political bias, but she returned as a full-time host two years later. She has also authored a book titled “The Great Gasbag: An A–Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World.”
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Behar temporarily left the show for health reasons but continued her appearances via remote connection.
