Most people consider these cupboards useless. Here’s the right way to utilize them.

In many homes, certain cupboards—like those above the fridge or in deep corners—are often overlooked due to their awkward shapes or hard-to-reach locations. However, with a little creativity and organization, these underused spaces can become valuable storage areas.

Maximizing every cupboard not only reduces clutter but also boosts overall home efficiency. Understanding the size and shape of these areas is the first step. For instance, the cabinet above the fridge, often 12 inches high and 24 inches deep, may not fit daily-use items but is ideal for storing infrequently used appliances like slow cookers or waffle makers.

Corner cabinets, sometimes up to 36 inches deep, can store bulk items or seasonal cookware. Use labeled bins—preferably clear and with handles—to keep contents organized and easy to access. Stackable bins or risers can also optimize vertical space.

Installing extra shelves or using hooks and tension rods can further enhance storage, making room for more essentials without clutter. Lastly, these spaces are perfect for storing bulk household supplies like paper towels or canned goods—items you don’t need every day but want easily available. With thoughtful planning, even the most awkward cupboard can be transformed into smart, efficient storage.
