Texas Man Sentenced to Prison for Striking Border Patrol Agent With Vehicle

Kevin Dominguez, 26, of Katy, Texas, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for assaulting a U.S. Border Patrol agent. On August 1, 2023, Dominguez drove through a checkpoint on U.S. Highway 57, where agents discovered a person in the trunk of his vehicle. After striking an agent with his car, Dominguez fled, leading to a high-speed chase. One occupant, an undocumented Honduran national, was apprehended. Dominguez pleaded guilty in January 2024.

In a separate incident, four individuals were arrested in El Paso for their roles in a people-smuggling operation. Yair Alejandro Aguilar-Flores, Angel Eduardo Carrillo-Carrillo, Jorge Alfredo Lopez-Acevedo, and Jesus David Reyes-Villagran face charges that could result in up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Additionally, Melvin Armando Funes-Canales was arrested for illegal re-entry after multiple deportations.
