76-year-old man, paralyzed from polio at 6, is one of the last people with an iron lung: ‘My life is incredible’

Paul Alexander, at 76, defies convention with a life shaped by an iron lung, a relic from 1928. Despite his extraordinary circumstances, he embraces life fully, rejecting limitations imposed by others. His battle began at six when polio struck, leaving him unable to swallow or breathe. Pronounced dead, a second chance came with an emergency tracheotomy, confining him to the iron lung.

Amid rows of similarly afflicted children, Paul fought on, driven by a resilient spirit. Overcoming hurdles, he graduated with honors, pursued law, and authored a book—all achievements defying expectations. Even as technology evolved, Paul remained loyal to his iron lung, navigating breakdowns with resourcefulness.

His story is a testament to perseverance, inspiring others to defy odds and pursue their dreams relentlessly. As Paul continues his journey, he embodies the triumph of the human spirit, reminding us that the only limits are those we impose on ourselves.
